Super 8 Slick

PowerPro Super Slick 8 is Smooth as Silk - 8 yarn Spectra fiber construction braided under high tension to create a live surface that feels smooth as silk. Cast like a Bullet - Reduced line friction on the spool and through the rod guides allows Super-Slick to cast like a bullet. Silent as Assassin - Smooth surface design reduces friction and line noise, allowing you to fish with stealth and silence.

Admittedly, I was late to the braid game. Being a huge fluorocarbon fan and fishing the clear water of Table Rock I never really thought braid fit the conditions on my home lake. After discussions with other anglers it became clear how wrong I was. While I still don't tie direct to a jig, Ned, or other lure braid has become an extremely import part of my fishing arsenal for top water, drop shot and of course A-rig fishing.

When choosing braid I've gone down just about every road that is out there, big name brands, Japanese niche manufactures and everything in between. I've settled on Power Pro Super Slick for a number of reasons:

  1. Soft and supple: Super Slick casts like mono or fluorocarbon, it is very soft and glide through the guides with ease. I is very manageable, unlike a number of brands it doesn't bind or kink causing knots or the dreaded stop in mid cast that some other brands do.
  2. Strength: All braid is strong but Super Slick has been able to last for an entire season of use without wearing thin or developing weak spots. On a spinning reel I have been using some of the same braid I spooled up last season.
  3. Zero Stretch: Pretty much any brand of braid is going to give you zero stretch, but since using Super Slick I can say that I have not lost as many fish on a top water as I did with mono. The lack of stretch gives you devastating hook set power, allowing you to bury the hook on a fish even at the end of a cast.
  4.  Color: There is significant debate over whether or not fish can see your line, regardless the green color of Super Slick blends in with the water color of Table Rock and give me a little more confidence.

Overall, Super Slick is the deal, if you're already using braid or are hesitant to, give Power Pro Super Slick a shot. Pretty sure you're going to like it.
